Annual awards ceremony of Anupurbik Art and Craft Institute held at Nagaon

NAGAON, May 6: The annual award presentation ceremony of the Anupurbik Art and Craft Institute, a leading art and craft institution of Nagaon was held at the auditorium of the Bengali Girls’ High School in Nagaon.

The event was inaugurated by Sangeeta Gogoi, director of Historical and Antiquarian Studies, Guwahati by lighting the ceremonial lamp. During the programme, over 58 dignitaries from various fields including sportsman Manoj Kalita, social workers like Gouri Shankar Roy, Ravindra Chandra Das and Namita Hazarika, a dozen of senior journalists were felicitated by the institute with mementos, jaapi and fulam gamusa.

Retired professor Kamakhya Prasad Chaudhary attended the programme as the chief guest while Simanta Bora, vice chairman of the Nagaon Municipality Board, Narayan Majumder, principal of the Bengali Girls’ High School, Runjun Bora, faculty of the Nagaon Normal School and Mrinal Jyoti Bezbaruah, principal of the Concept Senior Secondary School were present as the guests of honour in the event.

During the event, the student of the year award was presented to Dingkit Bezbaruah while the sincere student of the year award was bagged by Abhispita Goswami. While the best drawing award was presented to Prantika Majumder and the best colour award was presented to Aditi Dutta. Jeet Das and Ankita Paul won the best craft award. The school authority awarded the first five performers of each class.

The Anupurbik Art and Craft Institute bagged over 53 national and international awards and recognitions, including the Record of Asia and the London Book of Record for its outstanding performances in the field of teaching art and craft.
