MSSV organises 11th foundation day

NAGAON, June 11: The eleventh foundation day of Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya was observed with day-long programs at the auditorium of the varsity on Monday last here.

The program was initiated with the unfurling of the university flag by the chancellor of the varsity cum pradadhikar of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, Bhabendranath Deka. Dr Nayan Moni Saikia, in-charge registrar of the varsity, delivered the welcome address and also presented a brief note on the history of the university.

Sudarshan Thakur, secretary of Kalakshetra Samaj Guwahati, attended the program as the chief guest while senior scribe of Assamese news channel Pratidin Times, Mrinal Talukdar, was present as the special guest. Kushal Thakuria, secretary general of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, highlighted in detail how the varsity was set up, including the law-making process, and also expressed his gratitude to the state government.

The program was mentored by Dr Tribeni Saikia, HoD, Department of Education, while Gauri Prasad Sarma, information and public relations official of the varsity, delivered the vote of thanks, a press note asserted here.
