DIPHU, July 18: MLA of Diphu LAC, Bidyasing Engleng, distributed cheques on Thursday to 235 beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund as financial assistance for medical treatment and students, at Diphu Club.
Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang, attended the cheque distribution function as the Chief Guest.
He praised MLA Engleng’s proactive approach in distributing financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to students for their education and those undergoing medical treatment.
Regarding the education initiatives, CEM Ronghang mentioned that the government has ensured free college admission to alleviate concerns of students regarding expenses. Additionally, he highlighted that students are receiving financial assistance of Rs 10,000/- upon passing matriculation, Rs 12,500/- for degree courses, and Rs 25,000/- for university studies.
Ronghang also criticised certain political leaders for spreading misinformation for personal gain.
“During elections, some political leaders mislead people for their own benefit by providing incomplete information about the Indian Constitution and the Sixth Schedule. ‘Team Karbi Anglong’ is committed to truth and transparency. Misleading statements suggesting shifting of the Revenue office, inability of KAAC to issue land pattas, or provide appointments should not be trusted,” Ronghang emphasised.
MLA Engleng highlighted that financial assistance is being provided under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund not only for medical treatments but also for scholarships to students, including Rs 1 lakh for those studying abroad.
He cited the example of Angana Rongpipi from Diphu, who is pursuing MSc at a university in London and has received Rs 1 lakh in financial assistance.
The event was attended by executive members (EMs) of KAAC and local Member of Autonomous Council (MAC), Johny Timung.
