MLA Bhaskar Sharma inaugurates Ledo Xakha Xahitya Xabha’s new building

MARGHERITA, Dec 24: Member of legislative Assembly (MLA) Bhaskar Sharma inaugurated the newly constructed building of the Ledo Xakha Xahitya Xabha on Tuesday.

The building was constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 25 lakh under the Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (District Mineral Foundation, Tinsukia).

In his address, MLA Bhaskar Sharma highlighted the significance of Asom Xahitya Xabha calling it the largest and most influential literary organisation of Assam. He expressed pride in fulfilling the long-cherished dream of constructing the Ledo Xakha Xahitya Xabha building.

“Since becoming the MLA of the 83 Margherita constituencies, it was our collective dream to see this building come to fruition. Today, the people of Ledo region can celebrate this achievement,” Sharma said.

He further emphasised the harmonious coexistence of various ethnic groups in the Margherita constituency which has upheld brotherhood, love, and peace for centuries.

“Asom Xahitya Xabha has played a pivotal role in uplifting Assamese literature, culture and art in this region,” he added.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of several notable guests, including renowned litterateur, journalist, and artist of the Ledo region Jagat Changmai; Ledo College principal Dr Kripa Prasad Upadhyay; Ledo Junior College principal Phulmai Phukan; former president of Ledo Xakha Xahitya Xabha, Chandra Gautam; Asom Xahitya Xabha central executive committee member Sunil Gurung; and All Assam Bhojpuri Parishad Central Committee president Kailash Kumar Gupta.
