GUWAHATI, March 9: The Upper Chachal Bihu Sanmilan, a prominent Govt registered socio cultural organisation in Guwahati, is all set to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of Bihu festival this time with a series of cultural events and competitions.
The organisation, which was established in 2000, aimed to promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Assam. This year, the organisation will celebrate the silver jubilee of Bihu festival over four days, starting from April 15.
The celebrations would include a range of cultural events, such as traditional Bihu dance competition, music performances, and competitions for various age groups. The organisation has also announced a range of prizes for the winners of the competitions.
Some of the highlights of the celebrations include a Bihu dance and ‘Dhol Badan’ workshop, which would be held from March 23 to 29. The workshop would be conducted by noted Bihu experts and will provide training to participants in traditional Bihu dances and drumming.
The organization has also announced a range of competitions, including a Bihu dance competition, a traditional Assamese dress competition, and a quiz competition. The winners of these competitions will receive cash prizes and certificates.
The celebrations will also include a cultural procession, which will feature traditional Assamese music and dance performances. The procession will be followed by a range of cultural events, including a traditional Assamese feast and a Bihu dance performance by a renowned cultural troupe.

This year’s celebrations promised to be even bigger and better, with a range of exciting events and competitions lined up.
In connection with the celebration, an executive committee of hundred members has already been constituted with Hareswar Deka as president, Dr Budhin Saikia as executive president, Nava Kr Mudoi as general secretary and Dr Nava Nahor Deka as a treasurer.
The invitation letters as well as the minutes of the programme details have been ceremonially released at a function on Sunday.
