The meeting was chaired by In-charge Deputy Commissioner Sangey Wangmu Mosobi, and attended by Superintendent of Police DW Thongon, Dy SP Tasso Kato, Superintendent of Narcotics, Tax & Excise Lham Tsering, In-charge DMO Thutan Tsering, along with officers from paramilitary forces, intelligence agencies, and representatives from Market Welfare Committees, Taxi Association, and Hoteliers Association.

In his briefing, SP DW Thongon provided insights from the recently held state-level NCORD meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary. He shared that no new drug abuse or peddling cases have been reported in Tawang since the arrest of a suspected drug peddler last year. He attributed this success to consistent late-night police patrols and vigilant surveillance, urging continued cooperation and prompt reporting of suspicious activities by all stakeholders.

Addressing the gathering, In-charge DC Mosobi lauded the Tawang Police for their proactive approach and emphasized the significance of early intervention. “Prevention is better than cure, and we must remain alert to counter any anti-social activity at its nascent stage,” she remarked. She also stressed the importance of timely reporting of anti-drug efforts on appropriate platforms in line with the State Government’s vision for a drug-free Arunachal Pradesh.

The In-charge DC also commended the joint operation by the district police, SSB, and villagers of Kungba (Lungla sub-division) for successfully destroying wild cannabis plantations on May 4, 2025—a significant step in controlling the supply side of narcotics.
