Sagalee Parte Dene MPCS Ltd holds annual general body meeting in Balapu

BALAPU, Sept 25: The Sagalee Parte Dene Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Ltd. (MPCS) held its Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) at Balapu village, Sagalee, recently with enthusiastic participation from members, community leaders and well-wishers.

The event served as a platform to review the Society’s performance, deliberate on cooperative strategies and reaffirm its commitment to rural empowerment.

The programme began with the arrival of chief guest and former chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Nabam Tuki, and guest of honour, Er Techi Ramda, SE (Civil), PWD.

The meeting was formally opened with a prayer, followed by a welcome address by the Society’s Secretary, who invoked the cooperative’s slogan—”Khusi Didi, Khusi Pariwar, Khusi Gao”—a guiding message that reflects the Society’s mission of empowering women, strengthening families and uplifting entire villages through collective action.

During the AGM, the Society presented a detailed report of its achievements and activities over the past year.

Special focus was given to the work of its six Primary Level Federations (PLFs)—Ompuli Dokum Namlo, Yirkum, Chitum Den, Hoolinam Acham, Gorab Nyato and Nyor Nyobia Den Dokum.

Members discussed issues of cooperative management, transparency in financial dealings and strategies to expand income-generating initiatives that can contribute to long-term livelihood sustainability.

Addressing the gathering, chief guest Nabam Tuki praised the MPCS for emerging as a strong pillar of self-reliance and grassroots development in the region.

He highlighted the role of cooperative societies in supporting the objectives of the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM), particularly in strengthening women’s capacity for leadership and economic participation.

Tuki further assured his support in providing essential infrastructure for the MPCS, including furniture and the identification of unused government buildings that could be repurposed as the Society’s office.

Guest of honour Er Techi Ramda, while appreciating the Society’s initiatives, urged members to diversify their activities to ensure wider outreach and impact.

He emphasised that transparency and accountability, particularly through systematic financial record-keeping, are critical for sustaining trust and growth in cooperative movements.

An exhibition organised on the sidelines of the AGM by Self-Help Group (SHG) members attracted considerable attention.

The stalls showcased a variety of local products, reflecting the entrepreneurial potential of rural women and underscoring the cooperative’s role in promoting indigenous goods.

One of the key highlights of the AGM was the approval of important policy measures to strengthen institutional governance. Members unanimously adopted the Human Resource (HR) Policy and the Financial Management (FM) Policy.

Additionally, amendments to several key bylaws of the Society were passed, marking a significant step toward professionalizing its functioning and ensuring long-term efficiency.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks, where the leadership reiterated the Society’s vision of fostering cooperative values, driving community-led growth and maintaining full transparency in its operations.

Members expressed confidence that with continued support and collective effort, the Sagalee Parte Dene MPCS will further expand its impact in empowering rural households and strengthening the cooperative movement in the region.
