KOKRAJHAR, Nov 3: A seven-day Taekwondo training camp on “Kyorugi” and “Poomsae” began on Monday at the Chiknajhar Gymnasium, Bodofa Nagar, Kokrajhar organised by the All Bodoland Taekwondo Association.
More than 100 trainees from different parts of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) are participating in the camp, which aims to provide both basic and advanced training in Taekwondo.
The special trainer for the camp is Grand Master Wanyong Lee from South Korea, an 8th Dan Black Belt holder in martial arts. During the session, he said India has many talented martial artists but lacks adequate sports infrastructure and advanced training facilities, which hampers their growth. He stressed the need to create better platforms to support promising athletes.
This is Grand Master Lee’s first visit to Bodoland. He expressed his happiness after experiencing the Bodo community’s food, language and culture.
Officials and members of the All Bodoland Taekwondo Association were present at the inaugural ceremony. Organisers said the camp would help young participants enhance their skills and advance in their sporting careers.
