Guwahati, Nov 15: A routine naka checking drive turned into a major breakthrough when Golaghat Police intercepted a peddler at Naokata and recovered 354.53 grams of morphine. The seized narcotics, valued at around ₹2 crore, were found during a targeted operation aimed at curbing the rising drug movement along interior routes.
According to the update shared by the Assam Chief Minister, the swift action by Golaghat Police highlights the state’s ongoing crackdown on narcotics networks.
Officers reportedly acted on timely inputs and stopped the suspect before the consignment could be moved further. The accused has been taken into custody, and an investigation is underway to identify the source of the contraband and the broader network involved.
The state police force has intensified surveillance across sensitive pockets in recent months, with authorities emphasising that such operations are crucial to dismantling drug routes that threaten communities.
