BILASIPARA, Jan 20: Under the Chief Minister’s special scheme, bicycles were distributed among Class IX students of PM Shri Tilapara High School in Bilasipara on Monday, with the objective of improving access to education and encouraging regular school attendance, particularly for students from remote and economically backward areas.
The bicycle distribution programme was organised to facilitate easier transportation for students who have to travel long distances to attend school. The initiative is expected to significantly reduce commuting difficulties, increase students’ interest in education and extend vital support to financially weaker families.
Former BJP MLA and present Chairman of the Assam Government Marketing Board, Dr Ashok Kumar Singhi, formally distributed the bicycles to the students in the presence of members of the School Management Committee, teachers, guardians and several distinguished guests.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Singhi said that the Chief Minister’s Special Scheme reflects the state government’s strong commitment to strengthening the education system and ensuring that no student is deprived of learning opportunities due to the lack of basic facilities.
The students expressed happiness and gratitude after receiving the bicycles, stating that the initiative would greatly help them reach school on time and continue their studies without interruption. The programme concluded in a warm and encouraging atmosphere, reinforcing the importance of education as the foundation of a progressive society.
