BISWANATH CHARIALI, Feb 14: Biswanath MLA Pramod Borthakur on Saturday attended the free bicycle distribution ceremony held at Dakhin Nagsankar High School, Samar Dalani. Inaugurating the programme, the MLA lauded the state government for adopting and implementing a series of student-centric welfare schemes aimed at encouraging education and reducing dropout rates.
He highlighted that free bicycles have been distributed among Class IX students of government and provincialised schools under the Chief Minister’s special scheme for several years, benefiting thousands of students across the state. The initiative, he said, has significantly helped students, particularly those from rural areas in commuting to school with ease.
The ceremony was attended by ZPC member Dipali Devi; president of No 2 Dakhin Nagsankar Gaon Panchayat, Shantaram Lama; SMDC president Chandan Upadhyaya; Headmaster Ballav Chapagain; village headman Premlal Dahal; former headmasters Lila Kanta Sara and Bhabani Sarma; SMDC members; parents and guardians; representatives of the Alumni Association and teachers and staff of the school.
All proceedings were conducted by Anjan Baskota. A total of 68 students of the school received free bicycles under the scheme.
