Chongkham Police Seize 26.06 g Suspected Heroin; One Arrested

Namsai , Mar 08 : Acting on credible information regarding illegal sale of contraband substances in the Mimey area under Chongkham Police Station, a police team conducted a search operation.

During the operation, the police team reached the residence of the suspected person where a search was carried out following due legal procedure in the presence of the Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses.

During the search, two soap cases containing yellowish-orange coloured powder suspected to be heroin were recovered from the residence of the accused, where the contraband had been kept concealed. On weighing, the recovered suspected heroin was found to be 26.06 grams.

The accused person Chow Yasha Hopak, aged about 41 years, S/o Late Chow Kungong Hopak, R/o ɓVillage Gunanagar, PO/PS Chongkham, District Namsai, was arrested in connection with the case.

The operation was led by Shri Kengo Dirchi, SDPO Namsai, and Lady Inspector Nang Kyami Khen, Officer-in-Charge, Chongkham Police Station, in the presence of Executive Magistrate Chongkham Shri Kenge Loya.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Shri Sangey Thinley, APPS, Superintendent of Police, Namsai.

A case has been registered at Chongkham Police Station vide Case No. 03/2026 under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is in progress.
