Yaba tablets worth Rs 2.9 cr seized, one arrested

GUWAHATI, June 23: Police have seized yaba tablets worth over Rs 2.5 crore and arrested one person in Assam’s Cachar district, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Tuesday.

Sarma said 29,000 yaba tablets were seized and the crackdown against drugs will continue.

“Another major blow to the drug network. In Silchar, @cacharpolice seized 29,200 suspected Yaba tablets valued at approximately Rs 2.9 crore and apprehended one individual. Our crackdown against drugs continues unabated,” he said in a post on X.

Yaba tablet, known as “crazy medicine” in Thai, is a highly addictive drug, containing a mixture of methamphetamine and caffeine. (PTI)
