JORHAT, March 4: Members of Jorhat district unit of Mahila Congress staged a demonstration in front of the Jorhat Deputy Commissioner’s office complex on Saturday to protest against the hike in prices of LPG cylinder by Rs 50 from this month.
The protesters, holding banners and placards, was led by Jorhat district unit president of Mahila Congress Bonti Gondhia and was also accompanied by Jorhat district unit Congress president Putul Buragohain and other office-bearers of the district committee.
The protesters shouted slogans against the BJP-led governments at the centre over failure to check steep hike of prices of essential commodities and LPG cylinder after BJP came to power.

by then Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, the protesters said that what the people received was just the opposite of the slogan.
The protesters later submitted a memorandum to the state and union governments, through the Jorhat deputy commissioner’s office seeking steps to be undertaken to bring down the prices of essential goods, especially the LPG cylinder, the price of which has crossed over Rs 1100.
The memorandum was accepted by a district administration official from the protesters.
