New committee of Assam Wrestling Federation formed

GUWAHATI, June 4: 
The annual general meeting of the Assam Wrestling Federation was organised on Sunday at Hotel Gateway Grandeur where a new committee was formed.
Two elected members of 25 districts attended the meeting. The new committee was formed with former president of Federation Pijush Hazarika as chief patron, Ujjal Barua as advisor, Ratul Sarma as president, Gaurang Rai as general secretary, Abinash Das as treasurer. Abhijit Kumar Nath and Babul Khan, Akash Phukan, Binod Kumbang as vice presidents, Sidhangku Ankur Barua, Narayan Basumatary, Dhaneswar Basumatary, Kangkan Dutta as joint secretaries, while Janapratim Bora, Prince Munda, Mohan Kachari, Nabajyoti Barua, Sagnik Gupta and Dipankar Majumdar were selected as executive members.
Several organisations including the Assam Olympic Association congratulated the new committee members. Speaking on the occasion, newly-selected president Ratul Sarma said, “Assam must nurture wrestlers for an Olympic berth and I appeal to everyone for cooperation in this mission.”
“Our focus will also be to groom budding players for the national and world stage,” Sarma said.
