The programme was hosted at the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Naharlagun, and brought together ITI instructors from across Arunachal Pradesh.

The workshop was designed to familiarize vocational instructors with Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and methodologies that can revolutionise teaching practices and improve learning outcomes.

Through interactive sessions, expert lectures and hands-on training, participants explored how AI can be applied to curriculum delivery, student evaluation and skill-based training, thereby aligning ITI education with contemporary industry requirements.

Director of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Sibo Passing, in his address, underlined the transformative role of AI in reshaping vocational training. He explained how AI technologies can help instructors personalise teaching, automate repetitive tasks, and provide real-time feedback to learners.

“By integrating AI into ITI curricula, we can ensure that students acquire not just technical knowledge but also industry-relevant skills that prepare them for the future job market,” he said, calling for a strategic adoption of smart technologies to raise the overall quality and impact of vocational education in the state.

Assistant Director, SDE, Jumbom Riba, described the initiative as a progressive step in bridging the gap between conventional teaching and modern industrial demands.

He noted that AI-powered approaches empower instructors with data-driven insights and innovative teaching strategies, leading to more effective and personalised training.

Riba encouraged instructors to embrace AI tools as a way of keeping vocational education relevant in a fast-evolving employment landscape.

The technical sessions were led by Jorg Hafer, a trainer from TUD FaCE Institute, Germany, who delivered an impactful lecture on AI-driven curriculum development.

Hafer, recognised for his expertise in educational innovation, presented frameworks for adaptive learning models, intelligent teaching tools and the development of dynamic curricula.

He stressed the importance of embedding AI strategically within vocational training systems to make learning more engaging and to enhance the overall effectiveness of instructors.

President of the Rural Development Society, Tabu Dui, reaffirmed his organisation’s longstanding commitment to rural development and education since 1996.

He noted that the Society is now expanding its focus to vocational training and expressed readiness to organise similar capacity-building workshops in the future to strengthen ITIs across Arunachal Pradesh.

The inaugural session of the workshop was also attended by senior consultants of the Project Management Unit (PMU), SDE—Suman Shukla and Vivek Raturi—who shared their perspectives on advancing skill development through technology-driven solutions.

Officials said the workshop marks a critical milestone in the state’s efforts to empower vocational instructors with cutting-edge tools and knowledge.

By equipping trainers with AI-driven teaching methods, the government hopes to make ITIs more responsive to industry needs, ensure better learning outcomes for students, and strengthen Arunachal Pradesh’s position in the emerging digital economy.
