ITANAGAR, July 21: In a move to strengthen industry-aligned technical education, the Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (SDE), Government of Arunachal Pradesh, has launched a five-day “Institute-to-Industry Connect Orientation Program” in collaboration with Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd (TKM), Bengaluru.
The programme commenced on July 21 and will continue till July 25. The information was provided in an official statement issued by the department.
A delegation comprising 15 representatives from various Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across Arunachal Pradesh is participating in the programme.
The team includes six principals, one group instructor, and eight instructors, all led by Director of SDE, Sibo Passing.
They were received at the Toyota Technical Training Institute in Bidadi, Bengaluru, by the host company, which has partnered with the state government in this industry-connect initiative.
The orientation programme is designed to provide ITI faculty with hands-on exposure to real-time industrial operations and shopfloor practices.
According to the official statement, the goal is to bridge the gap between academic instruction and the practical requirements of the industrial sector.
Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of workplace culture, industry processes, and technological trends, all of which are expected to significantly contribute to their teaching methods and curriculum design upon return.
By integrating such experiences into their teaching, faculty members will be able to guide students more effectively, offer relevant career counselling, and promote project-based and skill-driven learning.
The department said that this exposure would also help align instructional techniques with current industry standards and keep educators informed about emerging technologies.
Speaking at the launch event in Bengaluru, Director Sibo Passing reaffirmed the department’s commitment to building a skilled workforce in the state.
He said that the programme underscores the state government’s objective of expanding access to industry-integrated training opportunities for the youth of Arunachal Pradesh.
He added that creating a robust interface between technical institutions and industry is key to ensuring that trainees graduate with the practical skills and confidence required to excel in a competitive job market.
The department further noted that the initiative marks a major step in enhancing the capacity of technical educators and in shaping ITIs into institutions that are more responsive to the demands of the modern industrial landscape.
By equipping educators with first-hand industrial knowledge, the government aims to ensure that technical education in Arunachal Pradesh remains innovative, forward-looking, and relevant to future workforce needs.
