Graduation Day held at Don Bosco College Itanagar, 445 students conferred degrees

ITANAGAR, Aug 29: Koloriang MLA and Advisor to the PHED Minister, Pani Taram, urged the student community to use their knowledge and degrees in the service of humanity and society while addressing the Graduation Day-cum-Felicitation of Rank Holders ceremony of Don Bosco College, Jollang, recently.

Speaking as chief guest, Taram said that graduation symbolises maturity and responsibility.

“From today onwards, your degree certificate is your knowledge, and your knowledge needs to be shared with the world. You are our future, so you must lead the society, the state and the country with positivity and commitment,” he said.

He further encouraged the graduates not to lose hope even if unemployed, but to pursue opportunities with dedication and hard work.

The MLA congratulated the graduates and sponsored cash awards for all RGU rank holders, assuring continued support for the next five years.

He also committed to aiding the ongoing toilet block construction at the college and announced assistance for a bore well and underground water tank for the sports hostel.

Guest of honour Prof Boa Reena Tok, HoD of Education at Rajiv Gandhi University, in her address, highlighted the importance of education in empowering communities and urged students to stay determined despite challenges in life.

Principal Dr Fr Jose George, in his welcome address, recalled the humble beginnings of the college in 2002 under the Salesians of Don Bosco and informed that the institution was accredited with an “A” grade by NAAC in 2023.

He congratulated the graduates and welcomed the alumni to their alma mater.

Altogether, 445 students graduated this year, including 38 top-ten rank holders, of whom five were gold medallists in Commerce, English, Sociology and Social Work. Fr CD Mathai, Rector of the college, also addressed the gathering, urging students to live by the values and principles they imbibed during their time at Don Bosco College.
