The initiative was led by Colony Development Committee President, Talar Phassang, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, senior citizens, and community leaders.

The programme was sponsored by Ward No 18 Corporator, Kipa Takum, who joined the residents in carrying out the cleanliness and awareness activities across different parts of the colonies.

The drive focused on waste clearance, sanitation awareness, and promoting collective responsibility for the upkeep of public spaces.

Speaking on the occasion, Corporator Kipa Takum and Colony President Talar Phassang jointly appealed to the citizens of Naharlagun to rise above social and economic differences and contribute wholeheartedly to cleanliness movements.

They emphasised that such collective efforts would not only keep the city clean and green but also promote healthier living conditions for all.

The leaders further called upon non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and community-based organizations (CBOs) to take proactive roles in motivating and mobilising people in their respective areas.

“Every citizen must understand the importance of a clean environment. With unity and cooperation, we can build a healthier, greener, and more sustainable Naharlagun,” they stressed.

The social service drive, marked by active public participation, reflected the growing awareness among the residents of the need for community-driven cleanliness initiatives, in line with broader state and national campaigns to improve urban sanitation and public health.
