MORIGAON, May 15: Assam Police intensified their crackdown on cybercrime, resulting in the apprehension of 14 cyber criminals from Morigaon and Guwahati on Wednesday.
The operation, led by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Samiran Baishya, targeted areas including Laharighat, Bhuragaon, Moirabari, and Guwahati.
Numerous raids were conducted, leading to the confiscation of a substantial amount of incriminating evidence, including 396 SIM cards, 25 ATM cards, 14 chequebooks, three laptops, 34 mobile phones, 11 fake PAN cards, and two printer machines.
Among the arrested individuals is Atabur Rahman, identified as a mastermind of cybercrime with previous involvement in such activities.
The other detainees are Nekibur Rahman, Inamul Haque, Motibur Rahman, Kabbal Hussain, Akramul Haque, Ayyub Rihan Siddiqui, Abzular Rahman, Mehdi Alam, Shamim Ahmed, Rekibul Islam, Zuber Ahmed, and Ashrafullah.
The inclusion of Zuber Ahmed’s son, a village guard secretary, underscores the concerning infiltration of cybercriminals into various societal segments.
