3 withdraw nominations in Kokrajhar LS constituency

KOKRAJHAR, APRIL 22: Three candidates have withdrawn their nomination papers for contesting in the the Lok Sabha elections from the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency.

With the withdrawal of three candidates from the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha,1 2 candidates are in fray for the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency, the elections to which will be held on May 7.

Earlier, 16 candidates had filed nominations for the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency. Meanwhile, sitting MP Naba Kumar Sarania’s candidature was rejected by the returning officer due to invalid ST caste certificate.

Monday was the last day of withdrawal of nominations.

The candidates who have withdrawn their nominations are Sailendra Nath Brahma (independent), Nandadev Brahma (independent) and Ghanashyam Das of GSP.

The prominent candidates who are in fray to contest the upcoming Parliamentary elections from the constituency are Joyanta Basumatary (NDA),Kampa Borgoyary (BPF),Binita Deka (GSP), Ranjay Kumar Brahma (Independent).

Meanwhile, Joyanta Basumatary, NDA candidate has expressed his confident that he is will win from the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency.

Basumatary said, “People cutting across different communities are coming forward to extend support to the NDA alliance candidates in the Lok Sabha elections. The NDA alliance government in Bodoland Territorial Region and the state government are working dedicatedly towards the welfare and development of the common masses. The NDA alliance will win more than 400 seats across the country to form the government at the Centre for the third consecutive under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.”

The chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region and UPPL president, Pramod Boro said that the NDA alliance candidates in the state will win over 12 seats including Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency. He said that people choose the NDA alliance, and accordingly people are extending their full support to NDA candidates.

He said that the BTR government under the NDA alliance is committed to work for all round development and welfare of the society.
