40th Abhiruchi Sports Day celebrated in Sootea

BISWANATH CHARIALI, Sept 3: The 40th edition of the Abhiruchi Sports Day was celebrated in style by Istantik, a prominent socio-cultural and literary organisation in Sootea. The day-long program featured various engaging activities, and the celebrations mirrored those taking place throughout the state.

The festivities kicked off with a mass cycle rally organised by Istantik. Notable figures from Sootea and students from different educational institutions came together to participate. Shyamal Jyoti Saikia, the officer in charge of Sootea PS, inaugurated the cycle rally, which began at the Istantik Club’s office, proceeded to Nagsankar, and concluded back at the Istantik Club.

In the afternoon, a meeting took place in the conference hall of the Istantik Club, presided over by Lochan Bora, the club’s president. Pankaj Jyoti Bhuyan, a distinguished dramatist and senior club member, served as the guest speaker. He shed light on the life and contributions of Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah and briefly explained the significance of Abhiruchi Day.

To commemorate this special day, the event organisers extended warm felicitations to senior players from the Sootea area, including Purna Kataky, Rishav Saikia, and Dwipen Barua, recognising their valuable contributions to sports.
