BISWANATH CHARIALI, July 4: The 44th CATC (Combined Annual Training Camp) organised by the 5 Assam NCC Battalion commenced at THB College in Biswanath Chariali on Monday. The inaugural session took place in the college’s auditorium and was attended by officiating commandant of Tezpur Group Headquarter, NCC Colonel Praveen Bhal, VSM (Visista Seva Medal).
During his address to the NCC cadets, Colonel Praveen Bhal highlighted the role of NCC cadets in nation-building and urged them to shoulder their responsibilities from the very beginning. The officiating commander was honoured with a guard of honour by the NCC cadets. Colonel Abraham N, the commanding officer of 5 Assam NCC Battalion, delivered a welcome address during the event.
The inaugural session was attended by officer Anjan Barua, ANO’s (associate NCC officer), CTO’s (care taker officer), physical instructors, and NCC cadets. A total of 542 junior division, junior wing, senior division, and senior wing NCC cadets from 5 Assam NCC Battalion, along with 49 Senior Wing NCC cadets from 73 Assam NCC Battalion, participated in the CATC camp.
The camp, which commenced on July 3, will continue until July 12. Over the course of the 10-day camp, specialists from the Indian Air Force, SSB, Assam Police, Fire and Emergency Services, and Indian Army will provide basic training on self-defense, cyber security, weapon display, and information about job opportunities in the defense sector. The cadets will also receive basic training on handling rage fire during the camp.
