GUWAHATI, Jan 12: In a significant move towards environmental sustainability, the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council has issued directives for the 50th Karbi Youth Festival (KYF) Golden Jubilee Celebration, urging all participants to refrain from using single-use plastics. The directives emphasise the use of alternative, reusable, biodegradable, and eco-friendly vessels or receptacles in all sub-committees, zonal camps, departmental exhibition stalls, traditional markets, arts & crafts stalls, food stalls, makeshift vendors, and by individuals and the general public.

The aim is to foster a friendly environment and maintain a clean ambiance throughout the KYF Cultural Complex at Taralangso, Diphu, during the celebration from January 12 to 19, 2024. The Cleanliness Sub-Committee for the 50th KYF Golden Jubilee Celebration has been specifically tasked with ensuring compliance and cleanliness in the entire KYF Cultural Complex.

Additionally, the Cleanliness Sub-Committee is encouraged to leverage this opportunity to raise awareness through Information, Education & Communication (IEC) initiatives. Collaboration with Town Committees and Municipal Boards is expected to enhance the impact of these awareness programs during the grand celebration at the Cultural Complex in Taralangso, Diphu.

This eco-friendly directive aligns with global efforts to reduce single-use plastics and promotes a cleaner, greener environment. The order has received the direction and approval of the chief executive member (CEM) of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, underlining its significance and priority.
