TEZPUR, Dec 21: The 68th Battalion Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) celebrated its 60th Raising Day on Wednesday with a formal event at Devendra Nagar. The commemorative ceremony took place at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Parade Ground within the 68th Battalion SSB, Debendranagar, Tezpur Frontier.
Under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of India, Sashastra Seema Bal, originally established as the Special Service Bureau (SSB) on March 15, 1963, marked its current Raising Day on December 20, following the presidential assent to the SSB Act, 2007.
The 60th Raising Day event showcased a series of demonstrations, spotlighting the exceptional capabilities and skills of the Sashastra Seema Bal. Inspector general of Tezpur Frontier, Binod Nayak, graced the occasion as the chief guest, acknowledging the formal display of skills and expressing gratitude to all personnel for their exemplary performance. In his address, he underscored the vital role played by the SSB in managing India’s international borders with Bhutan and Nepal. The SSB continues to be instrumental in ensuring security at various points in Arunachal Pradesh.
