The members of the students’ union raised slogans against the government for failing to curb the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities.

“The BJP government, both at the Centre and in the state, has been turning a blind eye to the increasing prices of essential commodities like rice, pulses, vegetables, petrol, and diesel, which have greatly impacted the common masses,” said AASU Dibrugarh district general secretary Rupjyoti Borthakur.

He said, “Due to the heavy price hike, people are facing problems in running their families. The present government has failed to curb the price hike. We demand that the government, led by chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, take necessary steps to control the prices of essential goods and commodities.”

Our Nagaon correspondent adds: As per the call of the central body of the All Assam Students’ Union, along with the rest of the state, the district unit of the student-oriented state organisation also staged a demonstration against the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities in the state and demanded immediate action to control the prices of these commodities.
