DIBRUGARH, Nov 20: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) on Wednesday staged a protest in front of the Dibrugarh District Commissioner’s Office against the rising prices of essential commodities.
The members of the students’ union raised slogans against the government for failing to curb the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities.
“The BJP government, both at the Centre and in the state, has been turning a blind eye to the increasing prices of essential commodities like rice, pulses, vegetables, petrol, and diesel, which have greatly impacted the common masses,” said AASU Dibrugarh district general secretary Rupjyoti Borthakur.
He said, “Due to the heavy price hike, people are facing problems in running their families. The present government has failed to curb the price hike. We demand that the government, led by chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, take necessary steps to control the prices of essential goods and commodities.”
