SIVASAGAR, Aug 21: The annual conference of the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) Minority Cell, known as ‘Xangkhyalaghu Xakti’, was convened on Sunday at the Sivasagar Yuva Dal Auditorium. During his address, Lurinjyoti Gogoi urged party members to work diligently towards a united and developed Assam by opposing the ruling party, BJP, and other divisive forces. He expressed his concerns about the present political scenario, stating that the current leadership of the BJP lacks propriety, respect for seniors, and knowledge of Assamese values and traditions. He also criticised the lack of respect for women within the state’s administration, referring to Dispur as a “den of dalals”.

Addressing recent events, including the attack on Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan’s car, Gogoi highlighted that even BJP leaders are not safe in the current state of Assam, which raises concerns about the safety of common citizens.

Prior to the conference, a large procession was organised in the town, leading up to the meeting. The event was presided over by Nandeswari Buragohain, the district president (in-charge), and was attended by central committee leaders such as Raju Phukan, Jiabur Ahmed, Pradip Borgohain, Anjan Konwar, Manik Gogoi, Uddipjyoti Gogoi, and district secretaries Mrinal Chutia and Gobin Dutta.
