‘Akash’ program at Demow Girls High School

DEMOW, May 26: On Friday, the ‘Akash’ program took place at Demow Girls High School under the auspices of the Demow Branch Sahitya Sabha Akash Sub-Committee. The flag was hoisted by Runu Dutta, vice-president of the Demow Branch Sahitya Sabha. Beauty Konwar, former secretary of the Demow Branch Sahitya Sabha, performed the smriti tarpan, and Anju Gogoi Medhi, adviser of the Akash Sub-Committee, lit the ceremonial lamp.

As part of the program, a poetry recitation and dialogue delivery competition for women was inaugurated by Padma Lahon Chetia, president of the Demow Branch Lekhika Association. Judges for the competition included Gautam Dutta Phukan, Ujjashree Phukan, and Rina Barua. Ghana Kanta Gogoi, former president of the Demow Branch Sahitya Sabha, inaugurated the open session.

Dr Diganta Gogoi, president of the Demow Branch Sahitya Sabha, chaired the meeting, with Ditimoni Dutta, secretary of the Demow Branch Sahitya Sabha, as the anchor. Lakhima Phukan, secretary of the Akash Sub-Committee, outlined the meeting’s objectives.

During the open session, discussions centered around the topic – ‘For the upgradation of women the Sahitya Sabha must initiative’. Dipali Dutta Saikia, retired subject teacher of Demow Higher Secondary School, delivered a specific speech. Prizes were awarded to the winners of the competitions during the open session.
