MARGHERITA, Dec 16: A mass joining program took place on Monday at the Jagun Bazaar Public Auditorium, attended by Raijor Dal chief and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi, in the 83rd Margherita Constituency of Tinsukia district.
Approximately 500 members from the Indian National Congress, Bajrang Dal, and Aam Aadmi Party from the greater Jagun region joined Raijor Dal in the presence of Akhil Gogoi, president of Raijor Dal and MLA from the Sivasagar constituency.
With only a few days remaining until the upcoming panchayat elections, Raijor Dal is ramping up its preparations for victory.
In his speech, Akhil Gogoi strongly criticised the BJP-led government of Assam, highlighting the ongoing mass joining programs across the state, which he suggested have put Himanta Biswa Sarma and all BJP MLAs and ministers on edge.
Looking ahead to the 2026 assembly elections, Akhil Gogoi warned that he would hold Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma accountable, suggesting that the countdown for the BJP has begun.
He urged the Indian National Congress, Asom Jatiya Parishad, and all regional parties in Assam to unite with a realistic approach for the 2026 assembly elections, aiming to deliver a strong response to what he termed a communal political party.
Akhil Gogoi emphasised that it would be impossible to counter the BJP if there were divisions among the three Gogois: Akhil Gogoi, Lurinjyoti Gogoi, and Gaurav Gogoi. He called on all opposition forces in Assam to come together before the 2026 assembly elections.
