MARGHERITA, Oct 10: Following the nationwide call to action, Assam has joined the “Amrit Kalash Yatra” under the auspices of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Mera Mati Mera Desh” program. The ceremonial procession commenced on Tuesday with a formal inauguration by Bhaskar Sharma, the MLA representing the 83rd Margherita Constituency.

The Amrit Kalash Yatra commenced at the Margherita central field and made its way to the North Margherita Rangamancha, signifying a symbolic journey through the heart of the region. This grand procession was organized in collaboration with 13 Gaon Panchayats falling under the jurisdiction of the 83rd Margherita Constituency in Tinsukia district.

The highlight of the Yatra was the Amrit Kalash, a symbol of sacred soil, which was entrusted to Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma. He will be responsible for transporting this sacred soil to Guwahati as part of the nationwide initiative.

Over 2,000 individuals, including presidents, secretaries, and members of the 13 Gaon Panchayats in the 83rd Margherita Constituency, participated in this historic event. The procession was presided over by Sukhdev Sharma, the President of Margherita Anchalik Panchayat.
