The award instituted in 2011 in the name of the dhol maestro Moghai Ojah by the Jorhat district unit of the AJYCP, was presented to Bharali by state AJYCP president and general secretary — Palash Changmai and Ratul Borgohain respectively.

The award carries a cash prize, a seleng chadar, gamosa, japi, xorai, a citation, and a memento. The award is annually presented on March 15 – the death anniversary of Ojah.

Speaking on the occasion, both Palash Changmai and Ratul Borgohain in their addresses, lamented that Ojah who made people spellbound with his skill of playing the dhol across the country, had an award instituted in his name by the State Government, which after presenting the award in 2007 and 2008, has not continued with the award presentation thereafter.

They urged the government to revive the presentation of the award in the name of the great artist and also to construct the road towards the Samadhi Kshetra of Ojah on the eastern outskirts here.
Noted writer, columnist and a critic Mayur Bora was the appointed speaker, while Dr Nirmal Kumar Sahewalla, an eminent doctor, a writer and the chief editor of Asom Aditya newspaper, ATTSA President Dhiraj Gowala, businessman and social worker Kamal Jalan, Dr Jayanta Madhab Dutta, a college teacher were among the guests who graced the function and spoke about the life and contributions of the dhol maestro.
