Assam: Army Jawan critically injured in attack by miscreants in Serfanguri

GOSSAIGAON, April 23: Five youths involved in the assault of Dina Narzary (31), an Army jawan from Abhayguri under Serfanguri Police Station in Kokrajhar district, have been arrested by the police. According to the information available, on the 15th of this month, the jawan, who is currently serving in the Assam Regiment in Tinsukia, was brutally attacked by a group of local youths. As a result of the attack, he is currently battling for his life at the Army Command Hospital in Kolkata.

Sources reveal that the incident began when Dina Narzary intervened upon witnessing a youth named Milan Mushahary harassing a local girl. In retaliation, Milan, along with a group of accomplices, launched a group assault on the jawan. The sudden and violent attack caused serious injuries to Narzary’s kidneys, liver, and head. He was initially admitted to a local hospital in Serfanguri but was later shifted to a military hospital in Guwahati due to the critical nature of his injuries. As his condition worsened, he was transferred to the Army Command Hospital in Kolkata.

Following the assault, the victim’s family filed an FIR at the Serfanguri Police Station. The police subsequently arrested five individuals identified as Phungja Bwswmwthary (19), Milan Mushahary (25), Rindao Daimary (19), Montu Goyary (22), and Rumoi Bwswmwthary (23). All five have been produced before the district magistrate’s court in Kokrajhar and remanded to judicial custody.
