Assam: Clear arrear tax else face strict action: Nagaon DTO to defaulters

NAGAON, Feb 4: Sunit Bora, DTO, Nagaon today urged to all owners of commercial as well as private vehicles of the district to deposit their respective taxes and other outstanding arrear taxes as early as possible to get exemption from further penalties and other lawful action in this regard.

While speaking to this correspondent here, DTO, Nagaon Sunit Bora said that the department concerned had already availed chances to the tax defaulters of the district to get escape from strict measures being initiated by the department concerned.

We have already issued official demand notices against several thousands such tax defaulters in the district and among those defaulters there are many construction companies like TK Engineering and other contractors who are yet to pay over crore of rupees as tax dues and arrear taxes, DTO Bora said, adding that the  enforcement officials from the department concerned initiated its drives against them across the district.

Our enforcement teams will go for door to door visit and will seize their vehicles of the tax defaulters on spot soon and the vehicles which have been seized, but have not been deposited amount of penalties till date, will be auctioned soon, DTO Bora asserted further.

Referring to the targeted revenue for the current fiscal year, he said that the department ensured Rs 69.5 crores to DTO, Nagaon and district transport department was trying its best to fulfill the requirement till date.
