GUWAHATI, April 13: In a significant step toward transforming Assam into an industrial and infrastructure powerhouse, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sundayheld a crucial meeting with Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Ports and SEZ, along with his team at Lok Sewa Bhawan. The meeting comes in the wake of the major investment commitments made during the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit held in Guwahati.
The Adani Group had announced a massive ₹50,000 crore investment across multiple sectors in Assam, aimed at catalyzing economic growth and employment generation.
The discussion focused on expediting the formalisation and implementation of these commitments for the greater benefit of the state and its people.
Key focus areas of the meeting included the operationalisation of MoUs signed between the Government of Assam and the Adani Group in sectors such as cement manufacturing, aerocity development, and thermal power generation.
The parties also discussed the immense economic potential of the Jogighopa Multimodal Logistics Park, and how the Adani Group can play a pivotal role in activating economic activities around the park.
Chief minister Sarma elaborated on the extensive multi-modal connectivity infrastructure—covering airways, roadways, railways, and inland waterways—already developed by the state government to support such large-scale projects.
He stressed the importance of leveraging these assets to unlock new pathways of growth in logistics, tourism, and urban infrastructure.
The chief minister assured the Adani delegation of the government’s full support, including fast-track approvals, land allotment, and facilitation of clearances to ensure swift and smooth execution of all proposed projects.
Sarma also underlined the transformative potential of the partnership, stating that Adani Group’s expertise in infrastructure can lay the foundation for a new era of industrialisation in Assam.
CM Sarma thanked Jeet Adani and his team for attending the meeting on a Sunday, a testament to the shared commitment to the state’s development.
He reiterated that the Assam government is working round the clock to deliver economic opportunities and better livelihoods for its people.
Also present at the meeting were Minister of Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprises Bimal Bora, Chief Executive Members of KAAC and Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Tuliram Ronghang and Debolal Gorlosa respectively, Chief Secretary Ravi Kota, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister KK Dwivedi, Secretary Industries & Commerce Lakshmanan S., and other senior officials.
The discussions concluded on a positive note, with both sides expressing eagerness to take the partnership forward and set the stage for a robust economic landscape in Assam.
