MORIGAON, April 30: Two cops of Morigaon district have been acclaimed for daring act while on election duty in Uttar Pradesh.
The state police department stated that the department hailed their efforts for saving a mother and her child from commiting suicide.
The mother taking her child in her arms jumped off the bridge into river Ganges on Wednesday. The policemen duo who were taking bath in the river with their collegues after covering election duty sprung into action and rescued the mother and her child.
Assam police department said that cop Indreswar Medhi and Kashyap Deka of 10th Assam police battalion have raised the department’s name high in the national context.
Medhi is a resident of Rajagaon and Deka of Ghagua Kalbari in Morigaon.
Both mother and child  were later handed over to the local police station.
The Assam policemen were praised by the local administration for saving the lives of two lives and their bravery lauded throughout Uttar Pradesh.
