Assam Governor chairs meeting with functionaries of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University

GUWAHATI, January 7: Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, chaired a meeting to take stock of the activities and other development works of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University at Chabua in Dibrugarh district, on Tuesday.

According to an official statement, vice chancellor Prof Verma gave a presentation, detailing the university’s academic framework, course curriculum, teaching and administrative staff strength and position etc.

He also brought several issues concerning the functioning of the university to the Governor’s attention . 

Governor Acharya took note of different aspects of the university including the construction activities.

He further asked the PWD officials to expeditiously complete the construction work so that the university can start functioning with all its facilities ready for the students.

Since the university has the possibility in nurturing sportsmanship and atheletic talents, the Governor asked the VC and other functionaries of the university to render their services so that the university can live up to the mandate it was established, the statement said.

The Governor said that sports is a vital sector which is receiving tremendous attention from the Central and State governments.

He reiterated the importance of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University in empowering the youth of Assam and the entire Northeast region. 

Governor Acharya exhorted all stakeholders to work collectively to overcome all challenges and expedite the completion of this institution, which holds immense potential to shape the future of the region’s youth, the statement said.

Vice Chancellor Prof J P Verma, district commissioner Bikram Kairi, and senior officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) and other key functionaries of the varsity were present at the meeting.
