TEZPUR, Dec 28: Governor of Assam Lakshaman Prasad Acharya urged district officials to lead by example through selfless service and transformative initiatives for public welfare, in a meeting on Saturday.
The meeting was held in Sonitpur, in the presence of district Commissioner Ankur Bharali, superintendent of Police Barun Purkayastha, DDC Lakhinandan Saharia, CEO Zilla Parishad Karabi Saikia Karan, all ADCs, additional SPs, and heads of departments to review the implementation of several flagship schemes of the Central and State governments.
Governor Acharya conducted a detailed review of schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Amrit Sarovar, Swachh Bharat Mission, and programs in education, health and agriculture.
Taking note of the Education sector, he put special focus on maintaining the teacher-student ratio, addressing dropout rates (especially for girl students), conducting parent-teacher meetings, implementing PM Poshan and rationalising teacher deployment and especially looking into the issues of schools in remote or forested areas.
Governor emphasised upon encouraging Plantation Drive and plantation activities.
Speaking about Amrit Sarovar Project he reviewed the progress and highlighted their potential as community gathering and celebration spaces.
Later on, Governor Acharya urged officials to maintain strict vigilance and ensure the success of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. He further sought updates on the progress of the TB Mukt Abhiyan.
