GUWAHATI, Oct 15: Assam Minister of Industries, Commerce, and Public Enterprises Bimal Borah highlighted the significant progress being made in the state’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, a press release said on Tuesday.
The MSME sector, which serves as a critical economic backbone for Assam, has been experiencing unprecedented growth and development, informed Borah.
The Minister also revealed that a total of projects worth Rs 122.45 crore have been approved for the financial year 2023-24, aimed at enhancing the industrial landscape across various districts in the state.
Taking to the micro-blogging site X, the Minister stated, “Under the visionary leadership of HCM Dr. @himantabiswa dangoriya, the MSME sector in Assam that forms a significant economic backbone of the state has emerged even more robust and is witnessing an unprecedented and accelerated growth trajectory.”
Among the initiatives, a new industrial estate is set to be developed at Chenga, Bahari in Barpeta, with an investment of Rs 12.07 crore.
Additionally, a significant allocation of Rs 31.54 crore has been earmarked for establishing a new industrial estate at Dhemajibari, Biswanath Chariali.
Other notable projects include the upgradation of the Integrated Infrastructure Development Centre (IIDC) in Silapathar, which will receive Rs 11.75 crore, and the development of a new industrial estate at Maizgram in Karimganj, funded with Rs 13.30 crore.
Furthermore, the upgradation of the IIDC in Titabor, Jorhat, is planned with a budget of Rs 10.82 crore.
The development of another new industrial estate at Dighalichapari in Sonitpur is also underway, with an investment of Rs 18.85 crore.
Meanwhile, the government is focusing on infrastructure development and upgrades within the existing complex in Manja, allocated Rs 10 crore, as well as a new industrial estate in Dhanubhanga, Rongjuli, Goalpara, funded with Rs 14.30 crore.
