Barowari Mahila Mancha pays tribute to Dr Nirmal Prabha Bordoloi

SIVASAGAR, June 5: The 20th death anniversary of the poet, lyricist, and academician of exceptional caliber, Dr Nirmal Prabha Bordoloi, was observed by the Barowari Mahila Mancha on Sunday at Barowari Kala-Kristi Bhawan in Sivasagar. Gauri Bhagawati, a retired teacher and senior member, lit the ceremonial light to initiate the day’s program. Sitala Devi, retired principal (i/c) of Sivasagar Government HS School, spoke at length about the life and works of ‘Swaraswati’ Dr Nirmal Prabha Bordoloi. Gitashree Bora and Kalpana Kotoky read out self-composed poems on Dr Bordoloi. Utpala Shrutikar Baruah led the chorus presented on the occasion. Rulee Phukan, Pranami Bhagawati, Anjana Borthakur, Juri Bhagawati, Gayatri Phukan, Utpala Baruah, and Gitashri Bora sang songs written by Dr Nirmal Prabha.
