DIPHU, March 23: BJP candidate Amarsing Tisso on Saturday exuded confidence in the party’s prospects, declaring victory in the 6 – Diphu (ST) Parliamentary Constituency as inevitable.
He said this during his address at Diphu government school following a grand welcome at Parokhuwa gate by enthusiastic party workers and supporters.
“With 8.9 lakh voters spanning three hill districts of Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong, and NC Hills, BJP’s triumph is assured,” Tisso proclaimed, energising the crowd.
Expressing unwavering support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Tisso articulated his vision for the region, emphasising the necessity of securing a significant victory margin from the Diphu seat.
Furthermore, Tisso pledged to advocate for an Autonomous State in Parliament, echoing the aspirations of the people of the hill districts of Assam.
“The implementation of Article 244(A) for granting an Autonomous State by the central government is our people’s primary demand. If elected, I will tirelessly champion this cause during my tenure as MP,” Tisso affirmed.
Highlighting ongoing efforts, including the introduction of the 125th constitutional amendment bill by Union home minister Rajnath Singh, aimed at amending Article 244(2) and Article 275(1) of the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution, Tisso underscored his dedication to legislative action for regional development and empowerment.
As election fervor intensifies, Tisso’s rallying cry resonates with the aspirations of the people, promising a future marked by progress and prosperity for the region.
Earlier, Tisso, accompanied by prominent leaders including Roland Killing, President of BJP-East Karbi Anglong District Committee, Tuliram Ronghang, chief executive member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), and incumbent MP Horensing Bey, was escorted in a decorated car.
A jubilant procession of party workers and supporters, chanting slogans of ‘BJP zindabad’, ‘Narendra Modi zindabad’, ‘Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma zindabad’, ‘CEM Tuliram Ronghang zindabad’, and ‘Amarsing Tisso zindabad’, accompanied Tisso to the BJP-EKADC office in Diphu.
Along the route, stops at various points including Dokmoka, Bakulia, Longnit, and Manja were marked with traditional Karbi turbans, flowers, and bouquets, symbolising the warmth of the reception.
