JORHAT, July 3: In a brief ceremony held at the BJP district office in Jorhat, a total of 179 individuals from various backgrounds officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday.
The newly joined members comprised a diverse group, including lawyers, businessmen, retired government officials, retired school teachers, members of the Congress party, leaders of tea tribes students’ bodies, sports organisers, and social workers, among others.
Hemanta Kalita, the president of BJP Jorhat district, warmly welcomed the new members and expressed his appreciation for their decision to join the party. He attributed the increasing support for the BJP to the effective policies and initiatives implemented by the central and state governments, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, respectively.
Kalita said that the party’s goal is to continue serving the nation and seek the support of the people. He also mentioned the positive response received during the month-long nationwide ‘Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyan’, which was conducted to commemorate the completion of nine years of BJP-led government at the Centre, starting from May 30 of this year.
