MARGHERITA, June 13: In observance of World Blood Donor Day, celebrated annually on June 14, a voluntary blood donation camp was organised at Margherita FRU/Civil Hospital on Saturday.
The camp was jointly organised by the 1831 Medium Regiment of Lekhapani and Margherita FRU/Civil Hospital and was formally inaugurated by Margherita Co-District Commissioner Rahul Doley.
A total of 50 donors participated in the camp, including 40 Army personnel from the 1831 Medium Regiment and 10 youths from the Central Margherita Kabarstan Group, who voluntarily donated blood.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sanat Kumar Dutta, Deputy Superintendent of Margherita FRU/Civil Hospital, said the collected blood would be sent to the Tinsukia Blood Bank for storage and would be made available during emergencies as required.
Dr Dutta lauded the contribution of the Army personnel and civilian donors, stating that their participation reflected a spirit of humanitarian service and social responsibility.
He said the hospital authorities were proud of all those who came forward to donate blood, describing the initiative as a noble act that could help save lives and strengthen healthcare support during emergencies.
