HOWRAGHAT, May 3: Professor Jivan Narah, ADP College, Nagaon and a poet launched a book titled ‘Sir Ejang Sum Ronghang’ on the first death anniversary of Sum Ronghang, former Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and former Cabinet Minister of Government of Assam on Saturday. The book was edited by prominent writer and literary figure Bhavprasad Deuri.

The function was held at the residence of late Ronghang in Saret Terang village, Richohidi in Karbi Anglong.

Narah spoke on the life of Sum Ronghang and described him as a good man. He also described Sum Ronghang as a cultural worker, an artist and an educator.

The event was hosted by poet Sharat Pator. Padmashri Dhaneshwar Engti; former president of Karbi Cultural Society, Chandra Singh Kro; former Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Bidyasing Rongpi; Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Madhuram Lekthe and President of Karbi Lammet Amei, Kamsing Hanse also addressed the function.

After the first death, if there is no gathering of people for their last rites or the name of the deceased is not mentioned, he is said to have died the second time, he noted. The event was attended by prominent writers and literary figures like Pabitra Bora, Bhavprasad Deuri, Sonju Bora, MLAs Bidyasing Engleng, Ganesh Bora, Khayasing Hanse, Tosheshwar Nath, Bhadreshwar Hazarika, Munimanta Shaikia and many others.
