SIVASAGAR, March 20: A book on birds, titled ‘Mitobgar Parar Hoikoli Charaijak’, written by noted nature enthusiast Hiren Dutta, was released at a function held in the Aoikya auditorium on Monday. Releasing the book, noted poet Prema Gogoi said that it is indeed a laudable effort by a writer from the rural countryside in Dekhowmukh who has written about the birds that are being threatened by a hostile environment. Brajen Phukan, editor of Rogpur Barta, in his speech, said that human beings will face severe environmental disasters if we cannot protect the birds and animals. Binowa Taye, district agriculture officer Ashif Bora, Jehiruddin Khan of Aaranyak, poet Mukul Nath, journalist Joyjyoti Gogoi, and many other distinguished citizens were present on the occasion and addressed the meeting. Hiren Dutta, the author, extended his thanks to those who have motivated him to persist in writing about nature and birds, acknowledging that publishing a book from remote areas presents challenges, especially for someone without steady employment. Senior journalist Manoj Kumar Borthakur highlighted that only 10,000 species of birds have survived out of over a million due to increasing anthropogenic interference and habitat destruction.
