DIPHU, Dec 6: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) organised a comprehensive disaster management workshop at the Arboretum Hall, Matipung on Friday. The event was attended by key stakeholders, including heads of departments (HoDs) and drawing & disbursing officers (DDOs) from various line departments.
Dr Md Arsad Mirza and Ankur Bikash Das from the State Disaster Management Authority, Assam, delivered insightful presentations on the nuances of disaster management and the responsibilities of various departments. Participants were divided into six teams to engage in a mock assignment outside the hall. This hands-on experience allowed them to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios.
Each team presented their group activity, demonstrating their understanding of the IRT framework, a crucial component of disaster response.
To further strengthen the practical skills of participants, a mock exercise is scheduled for tomorrow, December 7, 2024, at 10:00 am at the DC Office, Diphu. This field drill will provide an opportunity to test preparedness and response strategies in a simulated disaster situation.
The workshop concluded successfully, equipping participants with valuable knowledge and skills in disaster management. By fostering a culture of preparedness and response, the DDMA aims to mitigate the impact of disasters and ensure the safety of the community.
