GUWAHATI, April 23: Organisations in various parts of the state on Wednesday have strongly condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam in Kashmir that claimed lives of many tourists on Tuesday.
Condemning the incident President Jalal Uddin, in a statement, expressed outrage, declaring, “We cannot accept Pakistani militants killing our brothers in the name of Islam because our ancestors did not support Jinnah during the partition of the country.” The union demanded that Pakistan be held accountable for the bloodshed and urged the Indian government to respond decisively, even suggesting the possibility of declaring war if necessary. The MSUA assured full cooperation from citizens across India in supporting such measures. Highlighting the need for justice, the union announced plans to organise candlelight marches in various districts of Assam to honor the victims of the Pahalgam attack. “Pakistan must pay the price for the blood of Indian citizens,” the statement read, reflecting the union’s resolve to seek accountability. The MSUA’s call for action has sparked renewed discussions on national security and the government’s response to cross-border terrorism. The union’s planned candlelight vigils are expected to draw significant participation as a tribute to the lives lost in the tragic incident.
In Hojai, members of AAMSU in protest of burnt effigy of Pakistan Prime Minister and the Pakistani national flag at Doboka in Hojai on Wednesday. In an statement, Munwar Hussain, Chief Advisor of AAMSU’s Hojai District Committee stated, “We demand that India retaliate against Pakistan for this attack, and if it does, every soldier of AAMSU will fully support and cooperate with the government.” He added,” This is a question of our Indian identity; our country comes first, everything else comes later, Hindustan Zindabad.”
The members of Assam Nagarik Manch in Hojai has also condemned the cowardice act by the ‘Pakistan supported terrorists’ at Pahalgam in Kashmir. Bijoy Chakraborty, General Secretary, ANM said, we strongly condemn this gruesome attack on innocent people. He added, “We demand Government of India to take stern action on terrorists, so that such incidents don’t repeat in future.” he said.
Condemning the incident people in Sivasagar burnt Pakistani flag in Doulmukh Chariali here and raised slogans against all terrorists and Pakistan government. The protesters demanded strongest military action against the perpetrators of the ghastly crime.
Speaking to media at the protest site, Nipananda Hazarika,a Postal Employees Union leader, said that people as a nation must remain united to fight the external aggressors. Manoj Kumar Borthakur, Gopal Pandey and Arabinda Baruah, president, secretary & treasurer of All Assam United Brahmin Consortium ,through a release condemned the attack on innocent tourists by LeT backed TRF terrorists and urged the Centre to declare war on Kashmiri militants.
Moreover in Sivasagar, The Assam State Journalists Union (ASJU), the leading media forum of the journalists of the state, through a release condemned the brutal attack.
The release signed by the president Jitu Sharma Rajkhowa and secretary Pradip Deka, paid tributes to those that lost their lives and prayed for early recovery of those injured grievously.
