GUWAHATI, Dec 3: Asom Divas, the Foundation Day of Assam, was celebrated with joy and enthusiasm at Delhi Raj Niwas on Saturday. Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena and his wife Sangita Saxena joined the celebrations, along with officials, dignitaries, and the Assamese community residing in the national capital.
Lt Governor Saxena, extending his greetings to the people of Assam on their foundation day, shared his close association with the state and its people. He highlighted Assam’s abundant natural resources, renowned tea, exquisite golden muga silk, and the divine blessings of Maa Kamakhya and the mighty Brahmaputra, the lifeline of the state. Saxena also praised the rich and vibrant cultural heritage of Assam.
Acknowledging the leadership of chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Lt Governor Saxena emphasised the state’s achievements, stating that Assam is making significant strides towards progress and prosperity.
The celebration featured a vibrant cultural program that showcased the diverse cultural heritage of Assam. Performances included Sattriya dance, Bihu dance, and various cultural items presented by artists from different communities.
It’s worth noting that Raj Bhawans across the country are commemorating the statehood days of different states to promote a sense of belonging and the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’.
