DIBRUGARH, Dec 29: The RSS chief, Dr Mohan Bhagwat, delivered a powerful message on the imperative to develop the nation based on Bharat’s time-tested selfhood during the grand ‘Luit Subansiri Samavesh’ of uniformed Swayamsevaks in Majuli. His address sparked reflections on whether Bharat has been able to preserve its ‘Swa’ or selfhood despite gaining independence, and he underscored the significance of patriotism and unity for the sustained preservation of independence. Bhagwat noted that the formation of the RSS was driven by the objective of awakening society to principles of patriotism, organisation, and a vibrant sense of selfhood.
The RSS chief highlighted that the foundation of ‘Swa’ should evolve in accordance with generational needs, drawing from both traditional knowledge and the best global insights. Quoting the Vedic mantra “Aa no bhadraḥ kratavo yantu vishwato’dabdhaso aparitasudbhidah”, he advocated for the acquisition of knowledge from the entire world while upholding our unique heritage. Simultaneously, Bhagwat warned against adopting faulty models rooted in materialistic aspirations that have plagued the world in recent centuries. He highlighted that the Bharateeya model empowers society to achieve self-reliance across various dimensions.
Drawing attention to the geographical protection Bharat historically enjoyed against external aggressions, Bhagwat illuminated how this allowed our ancestors ample peaceful time for spiritual, artistic, and material development. He urged adherence to the righteous path exemplified by revered figures like Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev and Lachit Borphukan. The Sarsanghchalak stressed the importance of transforming personal virtues into organized efforts to build an empowered nation committed to global welfare, fostering a spirit of brotherhood akin to one large family.
Quoting the Upanishad’s profound teachings of “Isavasyam Idam Sarvam” and endorsing the value of ‘sanyam’ for a broader vision, Bhagwat asserted that Bharat has been practicing secularism since ancient times. He expressed the RSS’s vision of becoming an instrument of global welfare by organising society holistically, bringing everyone together while eschewing individualistic selfish attitudes.
The uniformed Swayamsevaks displayed impressive physical drills during the gathering, attended by thousands from Majuli. Bhagwat’s two-day visit to Majuli concluded with his departure to Dibrugarh for further deliberations, leaving behind a resonant call for the integration of Bharat’s timeless wisdom with modern global insights to shape a self-reliant and harmonious nation.
