HAFLONG, July 14:
On Friday, the Dima Hasao Congress Committee staged a dharna (sit-in protest) in front of the deputy commissioner’s office in Haflong, Dima Hasao.
The protest was organised to demand a proper investigation into the FIR filed by Bikasah Thaosen, an eyewitness in the case related to the killing of police constable Habibur Rahman. The Congress Committee urged for a thorough and unbiased inquiry into the matter to ensure justice.
Furthermore, the committee also raised concerns regarding the issuance of Permanent Resident Certificates (PRC) to the indigenous settlers residing in the Dima Hasao district.
In addition, the Congress Committee demanded compensation for the affected families due to the Assam Mala Road Project and National Highway. They emphasised the need for appropriate compensation to be provided to those impacted by these infrastructure projects.
