The meeting was chaired by joint director of Health Services, Dr Duleshwar Gogoi, in the presence of SDM&HO in charge of Urban Health Centre (UHC), Dr Leena Hakmaosa, and DPM, Dima Hasao, Rukmini Difoesa.

Dr Gogoi welcomed all attendees and stated that the campaign aims to achieve zero child deaths due to childhood diarrhea. He explained that the campaign, which will run for two months (July-August), was previously known as Intensified Diarrhea Control Fortnight (IDCF).

Dr Hakmaosa provided a briefing on diarrhea, emphasising the prevention of childhood diarrhea through continuous breastfeeding, timely introduction of safe and appropriate complementary feeding, use of safe drinking water, proper hand-washing, and sanitation. She urged ASHAs and Anganwadi workers to conduct door-to-door visits to raise awareness about the dangers of diarrhea, educate on prevention, and provide guidance on what to do if it occurs, including distributing ORS packets. She further emphasised the importance of ORS and zinc tablets in preventing and managing childhood diarrhea.

The campaign aims to engage various departments and stakeholders to make the district free of diarrheal deaths. Dr Hakmaosa appealed for cooperation from all line departments to achieve this goal.
